St James Market has been rejuvenated as a retail destination and location for public performances, events and exhibitions. The pavilion - on the site of a Victorian safe deposite - nods to the character of its historic forebear and evokes cabinets of curiosities reimagined for contemporary exhibition display.

The inaugural exhibition explored the story of St James’s Market and connected the 18th century broadside ballad 'The Handsome Butcher of St James’s Market', to the present day.
