In 2015, we joined forces with Architecture 00. Together, we enjoy collaborating in a shared environment where strategic, urban and social designers, architects, programmers and economists practice design beyond its traditional borders. 00 work with individuals, governments, corporations and communities to solve problems and anticipate change, and to design successful platforms and places. As a studio it aims to reach beyond the design of objects themselves to the social, economic and environmental systems behind them.

Gatehouse Nursery

Studio Weave were announced as runners-up in Pocket Living’s competition to design a new community centre and nursery in North London. The contest initially attracted 95 expressions of interest and 8 finalists were shortlisted for the second stage of tender.

Inspired by the historic Downhills house and gardens, the proposal reimagined the role of the traditional country house gatehouse in a contemporary urban setting, where concentric brick rainbows herald a welcome, and calm colonnades contain an airy space for play and interaction in an oasis of green. By rotating the massing, the proposal optimized both sunlight and visual links between the external spaces, the new neighbourhood and the park.
